The Pie’s the limit for owners of old laundry site
Bowen’s Pies are moving from their current Adlington base to the former Initial Laundry site on Botany Brow, a site which has been vacant and awaiting development for several years.
The company, which produces pies and puddings for around 60 shops, restaurants and takeaways, will occupy three of the seven units at the site, around 70 per cent of the available floorspace.
They will also open up a second retail shop on the Harpers Lane frontage of the development, creating five new jobs, bring their number of employees to 19.
The business has been in operation for 20 years and is currently based in Babylon Lane, Adlington.
Their Chorley Road, Adlington retail shop will remain open after the move in April.
Bowen’s is run by father and son Vince and Paul Bowen.
Paul, said: “We’re delighted to take take over a large part of the new development.
“It gives us much more room in a great location and we’re very excited to open a second shop.
“It’s a big investment for us but we’ll all be working hard to keep and improve our quality and grow the business.
Councillor Alistair Bradley, Chorley Council leader, said: “We wish Bowen’s pies good luck with their expansion plans and the relocation of their bakery to the new premises. It’s good to see the regeneration of this site which had been such an eyesore for many years.
“We’ve been able to advise Bowen’s that they’re eligible for grant funding from us when they’re ready to move and we’re also helping them to access other sources of funding which will help with their plans.
“This is what our business advisors are here to do and, I would urge any business thinking of relocating, expanding or anyone thinking of setting up in business to call us on 01257 515151 or email firstname.lastname@example.org to find out just how we can help.”
